1. Who We Are

Fishie.app is a digital platform designed to help anglers record, analyze, and improve their fishing trips.

2. What Data We Collect

• Identifying data: name, email, username
• Usage data: fishing spots, catches, weather, sea conditions, gear logged in your Arsenal
• Location data: collected only if you explicitly allow it
• User-provided content: notes, messages and conversations with the AI assistant (Fish Buddy), and voice recordings if you use dictation
• Payment and billing data: if you subscribe to a paid plan, transaction-related data (handled by the payment provider listed below; Fishie does not store full card details)
• Technical data: IP address, device type, operating system, browser, installation identifiers

3. Purposes of Processing

We use your data for the following purposes:

• Recording your fishing trips and providing Diary and Arsenal features
• Providing personalized forecasts and advice based on your history and marine weather conditions
• Responding to requests made to the AI assistant (Fish Buddy)
• Managing subscriptions and payments
• Improving platform security and operation
• Communicating service updates, where consent is required

4. Legal Basis

Processing is based on:

• Your explicit consent (e.g. location, promotional communications)
• Performance of the contract (providing the Service, managing your subscription)
• The controller's legitimate interest, limited to platform security and fraud prevention

5. Third-Party Providers and Recipients

To provide the Service, Fishie uses the following third-party providers, who process data as processors (or independent controllers where applicable):

• Netlify — web application hosting (frontend)
• Heroku (Salesforce) — backend API hosting
• Heroku Postgres — PostgreSQL database
• Amazon Web Services (AWS S3) — storage of uploaded photos and files
• OpenAI — AI models used by Fish Buddy and analysis features
• Stripe — payment and subscription management
• Resend — transactional service email
• Mixpanel — service usage analytics, enabled only after consent via the cookie banner
• Google (Google Maps Platform) — maps and location services when you use features that require them
• Open-Meteo — weather and marine data for forecasts (coordinates of the requested point)
• Mailchimp — audience management, newsletters, and marketing email (e.g. waitlist and campaigns), for users who consent or subscribe

Data shared with these providers is limited to what is necessary to deliver the requested service. Where providers are located outside the European Economic Area, transfers rely on appropriate GDPR safeguards (e.g. EU Standard Contractual Clauses).

6. Data Retention

We retain data for as long as needed to provide the Service and, in any case, no longer than:

• Account and Diary data: for the duration of the contractual relationship, until you request account deletion
• Billing data: for the period required by applicable tax and accounting law
• AI assistant conversations: 12 months from the last interaction
• Technical and log data: 6 months

After these periods, or upon your deletion request, data is permanently deleted or irreversibly anonymized.

7. Your Rights

As a data subject, you have the right to:

• Access, rectify, or erase your data
• Restrict or object to processing
• Data portability in a structured, machine-readable format
• Withdraw consent at any time, without affecting the lawfulness of processing before withdrawal
• Lodge a complaint with the Italian Data Protection Authority (www.garanteprivacy.it) if you believe processing violates applicable law

8. Minors

The Service is intended for users aged 16 or older. Users aged 16–18 may use the Service only with parental or legal guardian consent. Fishie does not knowingly collect data from children under 16; if we learn we have done so without proper authorization, we will delete that data.

9. Automated Decision-Making

Fishie uses automated systems to generate personalized forecasts and advice based on historical data and marine weather conditions. These forecasts are informational only and do not produce legal effects or similarly significant effects on you; they therefore do not constitute automated decision-making under GDPR Article 22. You may request explanations about the logic behind forecasts at info@fishie.app.

10. Cookies

Fishie uses cookies and similar technologies (e.g. local storage) required for the Service to work, including authentication. With consent via the cookie banner, we use Mixpanel to measure how the Service is used and improve it; for signed-in users, events may be linked to your account. We do not use Google Analytics. We do not use profiling or third-party advertising cookies.

11. Security

Fishie applies appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect personal data, including encryption in transit, access controls, and regular backups, to help prevent loss, misuse, or unauthorized access.

12. Changes

This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time. Material changes will be communicated by email or in-app notice before they take effect.
